Justin grew up in the Coffs Harbour area, and still lives in the locality with his wife, 3 human and 2 feline children. Justin has a PhD and 1st class Honours degree in Psychology, which he obtained whilst raising a young family in the Mid North Coast Region. He has enjoys being a University Teacher, mentor and student support officer, as well as having volunteered as an equity and diversity outreach spokesperson, talking with high-school students from disadvantaged backgrounds about pathways into tertiary education. Justin is also a tutor of Indigenous science students at UNE and SCU, and is a chairperson for the Coffs Harbour branch of the (national) Mental Health Professionals Network. His goal is to help build strong, resilient communities by improving educational and research service delivery. Justin is a ‘music nerd’ (particularly within styles of metal and classical), and also likes to teach his students magic tricks as a means of explaining statistics and probability. He would like to see his scholarly pursuits put to good use by giving back to the region that has supported him and his family over the years.
