Free 2 Hour Child Protection Workshop Series KEMPSEY

This is a free, four-part comprehensive series of workshops for everyone who is a mandatory reporter on the sometimes overwhelming, often challenging and important topic of Child Protection.

Mid Coast Communities is collaborating with the Mid North Coast Local Health District, Family and Community Services, Warrina Domestic & Family Violence Specialist Services and Mid Coast Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service to provide this free, four-part comprehensive series of workshops on the topic of Child Protection.

The workshops will be co-presented by facilitators with extensive expertise in each of the areas of learning. An Aboriginal facilitator will co-present all sessions, covering cultural specific content.

This training is suitable and recommended for all mandatory reporters and services working with children including NGOs, local, state and federal government sector employees, community and not for profit groups, private or corporate organisations and individuals, public and private schools, health care professionals and support workers.

** You can register for all of the sessions or choose the sessions relevant to your position. It is highly recommended that you attend session one as a prerequisite for the other three sessions.

When registering you can select to attend all four sessions or choose the sessions you would like to attend. Session overview:

1. The New Direction of Child Protection (suggested for other sessions)  

15th May 2018 – 9:30am – 11:30am

This session covers:

  • The new system
  • Keeping kids at home
  • Permanency support
  • Indicators of abuse and neglect

2. Mandatory Reporting 101 a Step by Step Approach

29th May 2018 – 9:30am – 11:30am

This session covers:

  • Child protection 101 a step by step guide
  • Case study examples + working through your own cases

NB: please bring your laptops.

3. When a Secret’s Not a Secret. How to Collaborate and Exchange Information (Chapter 16a & Chapter 13a)

12th June 2018 – 9:30am – 11:30am

This session covers:

  • This is a practical session (practising asking government agencies for information and providing information)
  • Exchange of information
  • Collaborative work
  • When to share and with who

NB: Bring chapter 16a & 13a policies with you to the session. Complete e-learning on Office of Children’s Guardian prior to attending this session.

4. Courageous Conversations – How, When and Where

26th June 2018 – 9:30am – 11:30am

This session covers:

  • Courageous conversations
  • Asking difficult questions
  • Addressing domestic violence
  • Safety action meetings, MATE training & Bystander training
  • Hearing the children’s voice

    1. Once you have registered for your event, your place is confirmed and you agree to attend and to participate in a positive and constructive manner.

    Fees and payments

    1. Many of our events are free. Where a fee is charged, payment can be made online using a credit card or via your PayPal account. If you have difficulties with this online registration process, please contact us via phone (02 6651 1788) or email (contact@midcc.org.au) so we can assist you.
    2. All fees quoted are GST Inclusive.
    3. Where fees are identified these are either at either a subsidised rate or a full cost rate. A subsidised rate applies when we are funded by a particular funding body to deliver training to a particular sector. If you receive funding from one of these funding bodies, you will need to select the appropriate ticket and you will pay the subsidised rate. You agree that the information you have provided about your organisation’s funding is true and accurate. A full cost rate applies to other people wishing to attend the training but whose organisation is not funded by one of the funding bodies identified. You agree that the information you have provided about your organisation’s funding is true and correct.

    4. Priority of enrolment
    5. You acknowledge that priority of enrolment in our training is given to certain sectors and groups and is subject to Mid Coast Communities funding conditions and contracts.
    6. You acknowledge that places per organisation may be limited to ensure equitable access to training opportunities.


    Cancellations

    1. You agree to notify us as soon as possible if you are no longer able to attend the training so we are able to allocate the place to someone else.
    2. You acknowledge that if cancellations are received less than 7 days before the date of the training your fee may not be able to be refunded.

    Your Information

    1. You agree that the information provided by you is accurate and complete and that Mid Coast Communities is able to use that information to contact you or to contact other people listed on the registration form
    2. You agree that the information you have provided is able to be provided to other people involved in the training you have applied for
    3. You agree that information about you may be used by Mid Coast Communities for the purpose of reporting and data collection

    Event Recording

    1. At many of our events a photographer or videographer takes photos and video of the event to document the day. You consent to any media recording to be taken of you at the event.
    2. Mid Coast Communities and its event partners may use the photos and video for Mid Coast Communities and partner websites and social media and to promote future Mid Coast Communities and partner events and activities. Mid Coast Communities will not licence that material for commercial use.
