The Big Plan Project
The Big plan is a unique opportunity for people to plan for their future in a large group and within a fun, interactive and safe environment.
The Big Plan Project is funded by the NSW Department of Family and Community Services and assists people with disability to dream about and plan for their future. The Big Plan process works best for people who have a disability and it’s a great process for young people who are leaving school or for people who are at transition points in their lives or for people who are thinking about their future and what that might look like.
The Big Plan is about exploring and working out what it takes to have an interesting fulfilling life. Held over a number of sessions, Big Plan activities assist people with disability and their supporters to work out what people would like to do in their future and what the next steps are to achieve this. It can also help people to think about what’s important to them when they access the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
Any friend, family member, support worker or other important people in people’s lives are invited to come along with the person to assist in dreaming and planning for the future together.
The Big Plan is free and lunch is provided. The Big Plan is an enjoyable, life-affirming experience. Some of the comments from previous participants include:
“I never thought that I would have so much to say for myself”
“It’s great, I feel like I’m not trying to do this alone anymore”
“I have lots of new ideas that I never would have thought of”
