The Living Well Expo and the Multicultural Expo
Mid Coast Communities enhances access to services and support by working in partnership with other Community Services, and mainstream community groups and businesses, to host Expos that provide opportunities for community members to find out information and gain knowledge.
Living Well Expo
SAVE THE DATE!
This year’s Expo will be held on Wednesday 16 August 2017. More information to follow soon.
The annual Living Well Expo has been delivered for the past 10 years. The Living Well Expo provides an opportunity for community members, people with disabilities, and older people and their families and carers to find out information about local services and other community resources.
Each year the Expo alternates between a focus on ageing and a focus on disability with a strong focus at each on wellness, engaging in community activities and fostering independent living.
Around 2,000 people attend each Living Well Expo and come away with ideas, knowledge and resources to assist them to make informed choices about their supports, health and wellbeing. The day is peppered with activities and guest speakers. In 2016, we were honoured to have Ita Buttrose AO OBE attend and speak on a range of issues.
The Living Well Expo is organised by a dedicated team of local Community Services who share a common vision to provide the community with information and choice.
Mid Coast Communities staff played a key role in the 2016 launch of the Multicultural Expo. This hugely successful inaugural event was the result of the collaborative efforts of a committee of staff from multiple sectors and was driven by the Local Health District.
The Multicultural Expo promotes diversity, inclusion, health and community connection. The Expo featured a range of entertainment and activities that celebrated our community’s rich culture and diversity.
Around 1000 community members attended the Expo including about 400 students from non-English speaking backgrounds from local high schools. The feedback from community members and students was one of overwhelming positivity with all saying the event was incredibly worthwhile, informative, fun, engaging and connecting for all.
Watch this space for the next Multicultural Expo event!
